During the heady period of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the three partners would lead this American Renaissance which was characterized by the classical public buildings that were introduced to cities, small and large, in the northeast United :// /rock-star-architects-in-newport-mckim-mead-white.

These Architects Designed A Nation The architecture firm of McKim, Mead and McKim built some of this country's greatest buildings, from the original Penn Station in New York to Washington's   McKim, Mead, and White was the premier architectural firm in the eastern United States at the turn of the twentieth century.

The firm consisted of Charles McKim, William Mead, and Stanford and White studied under Henry Hobson Richardson before forming their own firm. They were associated with the City Beautiful and Beaux Arts movements, that aimed to clean up the McKim, Mead, and White was formed Jby Charles Follen McKim, William Rutherford Mead, and Stanford White.

It was one of New York's leading firms, and also had a prominent practice in Boston led by Charles McKim.
